Welcome to the Friends of Coten End webpage!
Friends is the Coten End Primary School parent & teacher association (PTA). We raise money for the school by running various events throughout the school year, including the school disco, Christmas Fair, Easter Egg tombola, and the Summer Fair. All of the money you help us to raise goes directly to the school to purchase new books and equipment, to subsidise school trips, and to provide a year group fund that each teacher can spend on what is needed most in their class. In the past academic year, Friends contributed £18,500 to school, including large donations towards refurbishing the upper school playground, Key Stage 1 phonics and reading books, and the annual year group funds.
Last term we held two very successful fundraising events—the Bingo and Fish & Chips evening and the Easter Egg Tombola—which together raised over £1100. Thank you so much to everyone for supporting these events, and to all the volunteers, both parents and teachers, that helped make these events such a success.
The next Friends event is the Upper School Courtyard makeover on Sunday 25th June. The school has asked us to help revamp the upper school courtyard to provide a fenced area for the chicken coop (ready for some new inhabitants!) and more flowerbeds for the children to plant up. Everyone is invited to come along and help with this project. Friends will provide bacon sandwiches and refreshments for the workers! If you are able to help, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
The biggest fundraising event on the school calendar is the Summer Fair, which this year will take place on Saturday 8th July. Come along and enjoy fun games and craft stalls, bouncy castle and slide, Soak Year 6 and Beat the Goalie, BBQ and fully licensed bar, and entertainment in the arena. Arena performances will include a demonstration from Harbury Rugby Club, a performance from the school band and a visit from a very special Disney Princess and her Prince. More details will be sent home after half term, including which year groups are running which stalls this year, and details on how to sign up to help. We will be having a plant stall so if any green-fingered parents out there are planting at home or in their allotments, please consider planting a few extra seeds to donate to the plant stall! If anyone has any contacts at local garden centres, Homebase etc, we’d be grateful for any donations of plants or seeds for the stall.
We are always on the look out for parent helpers and ideas for new, fun events. We don’t expect you to devote hours and hours to Friends activities, but every little helps! Friends is a great way to meet other parents from your year group and those with children in other year groups, as well as getting to know the teachers too. Our next committee meeting will be at 6pm on Thursday 8th June at 6pm in the Roebuck Pub, Warwick. Everyone is welcome!
If you don’t fancy coming along to a meeting but you are able to help out with events, either on the day or in the run up, please do get in touch. It is impossible for us to run events without support from parents and families. This year we have re-introduced a system of class reps; if you are interested in being your child’s class rep from September, please email email@example.com.
