Can you help with the school disco?
The school discos take place on Friday 10th November. Can you help with the following?:
Thank you to everyone who has already signed up to volunteer. Your help is very much appreciated. Parent volunteers make a big difference to an even running well. To sign up to help, please visit:
Welcome to the Friends of Coten End webpage!
Friends is the Coten End Primary School parent & teacher association (PTA). We raise money for the school by running various events throughout the school year, including the Autumn Disco, Christmas Fair, Easter Egg tombola, and the Summer Fair. We also hold regular secondhand uniform sales and recycling collections to raise additional funds for the school.
All of the money you help us to raise goes directly to the school to purchase new books and equipment, to subsidise school trips, and to provide a year group fund that each class teacher can spend on what is needed most in their class. Last term’s Summer Fair was a huge success and we raised a phenomenal £4098! Thank you so much to everyone for supporting this event, and to all the volunteers, both parents and teachers, who helped made the Summer Fair such a success.
We have another Bag 2 School recycling collection booked for Friday 13th October. Our last collection in May raised £110 for the school, but we can do better than that! Please take the opportunity to have a clear out and fill your bag with clean clothes, paired shoes, belts, hats or other accessories, soft toys (but no plastic toys please), curtains, towels and other household linen. More information on what the company will and won’t collect can be found on the Bag2School website (http://uk.bag2school.com/what-we-collect). Bag2School do not accept uniform but don’t forget that any unmarked, good quality uniform can be donated to school for re-sale in our regular secondhand uniform sales. We are also going to start selling secondhand costumes so if you have any costumes that you no longer need from school plays, ‘Wow’ days, World Book Days, or Christmas shows, we’d be happy to find them a new home!
The date for the annual Autumn Disco is Friday 10th November. This event is always a big hit with the children so please put the date in your diaries now. More information on times and tickets sales to follow so please keep a look out in the school newsletter and on the school app.
We are always on the look out for parent helpers and ideas for new, fun events. We don’t expect you to devote hours and hours to Friends activities, but every little helps! Friends is a great way to meet other parents from your year group and those with children in other year groups, as well as getting to know the teachers too. The Friends Annual General Meeting will now take place on Wednesday 4th October at 6pm in the staff room. This will be immediately following at 7pm by the first general committee meeting of the school year. All parents are very welcome to attend either meeting. We will be discussing how much money Friends has raised for the school during the 2016-17 academic year, what these funds will be spent on, and what fundraising events we are planning for the coming year.
Friends is also looking for a new Secretary to join the Friends Committee this term. Duties would include attending committee meetings, circulating minutes, supporting the committee with event organisation, and liaising with the school office over communications. If you are interested in devoting some of your time to supporting the PTA and helping fundraise for the school, please email Rebecca.firstname.lastname@example.org or speak to Mrs Sheepy about the role.
If you don’t fancy coming along to a meeting but you are able to help out with events, either on the day or in the run up, please do get in touch. It is impossible for us to run events without support from parents and families. This year we will be continuing to have class reps; if you are interested in being your child’s class rep this year, please email email@example.com.
