Friends Association

Welcome to the Friends of Coten End webpage!

Who are we?

‘Friends’ is the Coten End Primary School Parent and Teacher Association (PTA).

What we Do?

We are a registered charity who organise various fun events, such as the annual Easter Egg Tombola, throughout the school year to raise money for school. We also hold regular second-hand uniform sales, raffles and recycling collections.

The money raised goes directly to benefit the children at Coten End. It assists with the purchase of educational resources and activities, including subsidising school trips, not included in the school budget. We also provide a year group fund that the class teachers can spend on what is needed most in their class. We are very excited about our new long-term goal, to help provide funding to update the playgrounds at Coten End.

Academic Year 2017-2018

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the parents, teachers, children and local businesses who have been involved in the fundraising efforts to date this year.

Particular highlights have been:

  • Autumn Disco – raised £1343
  • Christmas Fair - £3447
  • Easter Egg Tombola - £639
  • Bingo Night - £777
  • Spring Raffle - £594

During the Summer Term so far we have raised £152 from the bag2school recycling collection and £145 from the Second-hand School Uniform Sale.

Dates For Your Diary

We are currently having fun organising the Summer Fair which will be held on Saturday 7th July 2018 11am-2pm. Highlights include BBQ, Music, Lego Zone, Bouncy Castle, Storytelling, Games, Mad Science, Yoga and Dance Workshops. Last year’s Summer Fair was a huge success and we raised a phenomenal £4098. Of course, with your help (and hopefully a little bit of sunshine on the day) we aim to beat last year’s figures!!

Friends Needs You!

We are always on the lookout for parent helpers and ideas for new, fun events. ‘Friends’ is a great way to meet the teachers and other parents, both from your own and other year groups.

If you don’t fancy coming along to a meeting but you are able to help out with events, either on the day or in the run up, please do not hesitate to get in touch. It is impossible for us to run events without support from parents and families.

We really do understand that for some parents, keen to support us, giving up time to do this is not an option currently…here are additional ways you can help:

Easyfundraising - We would like to encourage all parents, grandparents and teachers to sign up to fundraise for Coten End... Simply go to to register. Many retailers are involved so when you shop online for groceries, holidays etc you may be able to earn a percentage of your spending for Coten End, at no inconvenience or charge to you. You can even download a simple tool that reminds you when you are shopping on an eligible website. Happy Shopping!

To sign up please visit:

Match Funding- If you work for a company that offers a Match Funding programme you may be able to help donate hundreds of pounds to school without any cost to you! Match Funding is when companies offer to ‘match’ funds raised, pound for pound up to a certain amount, by charitable organisations such as ‘Friends’. The government actively encourages businesses to donate to charity by giving them tax relief on their donations. Lots of companies will match any fundraising event that their employees are involved in. To view the list of companies already involved please click on ‘Matchfunding’ in the ‘useful documents’ below.

Your continued support is much appreciated.
