Coten End Primary School

Week beginning 18/09/23

Another very busy week in Year One. The children continue to settle well and get used to life in Key Stage One. We had our first spelling test this week and the children were really excited and performed brilliantly; we are super proud of them. Thank you for your continued support with your child's learning.

In Art this week we looked at the Colour Wheel and explored colour mixing and how to make secondary colours by mixing primary colours together. Exercise was the focus of our work in Science. We talked about the importance of exercise in building body strength and fitness. We also carried out an investigation into the changes that occur in our bodies when we exercise. 'Oh the Places You Will Go' by Dr Seuss was the book focus in Drawing Club. In one lesson the children had to create and write about a new magical instrument!! Floating xylophones and flying trumpets were two of the imaginative ideas the children designed!! Less than, more than and the same was the focus in Maths and in PSHE we discussed how our working environment needs to be a safe and happy place to enable all of us to thrive and achieve our best.

Have a brilliant weekend.
