Summer 1 Spellings
Spring 2 Spellings
4.3.19 - For the next few weeks, we will continue to learn words from the Year 3 statutory list. The complete list is also saved below.

super– means ‘above’. super–: supermarket, superman, superstar

anti– means ‘against’. anti–: antiseptic, anticlockwise, antisocial

auto– means ‘self’ or ‘own’. auto–: autobiography, autograph

Please remember, if you are learning the words on the Panda list and are feeling confident, you could practise some of the words on the list for the Turtles. Similarly, if you have been asked to learn the words on the Turtle list, please check that you can confidently spell those on the Panda list too. Thank you and keep up the hard work!

Spring 1 Spellings
11.2.19 - The children have not been given a new list of words to learn this week. Instead, we would like them to recap on the spellings they have covered so far this year and to select some words form the Year 3 list to learn, as we will be revisiting this list again after the half term holiday. Thank you for your continued support in helping your child to learn their spellings.
4.2.19 The spelling rules for the -ous suffix are saved above to help support you.
28.1.19 The spelling rules we are learning this week are saved in the document above. Please look at them when you are learning your spellings so that you understand how the root word changes when you add the suffix 'ly'.

Over the next few weeks, we will focus on some of the words taken from the Year 3 and 4 statutory word-list. There is a mixture of words pupils frequently use in their writing and those which they often misspell. The complete list of words that we will cover in Year 3 can be found below. Also saved, is the Spelling Appendix from the English Curriculum, where you can find the complete word-lists for KS2. Please note that the expectation is that the children can spell the words that we cover (and the remaining words on the statutory list) by the end of Year 4, so they will revisit these words next year too.
