Welcome to our Year One Page.

Hello, I'm Mrs Halford and I am teaching Year 1 this year. I have been teaching at Coten End for nearly 20 years now! As well as being a class teacher Monday to Wednesday, I am also Phase Leader for Years 1 and 2. I share a class with Mrs Hawkins and luckily we are both in school on a Thursday. I enjoy teaching a range of subjects at school but Maths, Phonics and Art are my favourite to teach. 

Out of school, I enjoy going on long walks with my Dog, Marnie. I particularly love taking her to the beach! In my own time, I also enjoy eating out, listening to music and travelling to different places when I can. Fun fact about me, is that I am a twin! My twin sister lives in Cambridge with my niece and nephew.

Hello, I'm Mrs Hawkins. I've been teaching for a long time, but I have been at Coten End Primary School since 2019! I love reading stories and learning about the world and everyone in it. I enjoy helping children with their learning and their feelings, and I am very lucky to share a class with Mrs Halford - we work hard to be a good team. 

In my spare time, I love spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy barre, long walks and spending time outside. I really enjoy travelling and visiting new places, especially if those places have delicious food! I also love animals and a really good documentary.

Hello, I am Miss Turner and I am to Coten End. I am really looking forward to getting to know the children and adults in Year 1. I enjoy teaching early reading and maths in Key Stage 1. I also enjoy teaching Geography and learning about our world. You will often hear music playing in my classroom or even spot us taking our learning outdoors. I have recently trained to be a Forest School leader and now enjoy observing learning taking place from a child-led perspective.

Outside of school, I enjoy keeping active and being outside. I am half Swedish so I regularly go to Sweden to spend time with my family but sometimes I like to go on flights to new countries and explore new places and eat delicious food! Finally, I love to read and spend time with my friends with coffee and cake! 

Hello, I am Mrs Leadbeater, and I am delighted to be teaching Year 1 again this year!

I have been teaching at Coten End for a long time now; unbelievably, this is my 24th year! As well as teaching 1NL, I am the Maths Lead for Reception and Key Stage 1. I enjoy teaching all areas of the curriculum, but my particular passions are Phonics and, of course, Maths! I love helping children develop confidence in their learning and celebrating their achievements along the way.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family and making the most of opportunities to relax and create new memories together. Coten End is also a big part of my family life. My daughter, who has just started university, attended Coten End for her primary education, and my son is currently in Year 2.
