Coten End Primary School
Year 4
Welcome to our Year 4 Page.
Class Teachers:
Mrs Portch (4BP)
Hello! My name is Mrs Portch. I have been teaching at Coten End Primary School for several years now and really enjoy my time here. One of my favourite things is reading for pleasure and I talk about this a lot! I also find our history topics incredibly interesting and love hearing the facts and knowledge that the children already have and are excited to share. Outside of school, I spend lots of my spare time walking, spending time with my family and of course, reading!
Mrs Cowne (4GC)
Hello, I am Miss Cowne and it is my first year at Coten End. My favourite subjects to teach are English because I love listening to pupils' thoughts and ideas, and letting their imagination take me on an adventure! I also enjoy reading for pleasure; I am always looking for new books to read!
When I am not at school, I enjoy exploring new coffee spots (I love coffee!). Spending time outdoors is also important to me, and I try to explore areas in and around Warwickshire. I am very excited to be part of the Coten End community.
Mrs Collier-Bett (4CS)
Hello, my name is Mrs Collier-Bett and I have been teaching at Coten End for a few years in a variety of different year groups. I am very excited to teach in Year Four this year! My favourite subjects to teach are Maths and Computing. I have two little girls, who keep me very busy doing art classes, swimming and reading stories together. At the weekend, I enjoy playing netball, walking my dog and cooking different meals.
Mrs Shah (4CS)
Hello I am Mrs Shah and I am a class teacher in Year 4. My favourite subjects to teach are English and Science as I love immersing children in new books and watching them carry out practical investigations. When I am not busy teaching, you will probably see me in a local park chasing my two young children! If this wasn't already enough exercise, I am part of a local netball team and play netball matches every Monday alongside going to gym!
Homework Expectations
Maths homework will be set on the Homework Page on a Thursday. Children will be provided with a homework book to record their work in, so there is no need for any additional printing.
There will be a book added onto Myon for the children to read and then take a quiz on. These could be linked to our topic, or just books that we think the children will enjoy.
Weekly spelling lists will also be shared with some suggested activities. A reminder that we do not do weekly formal tests of spellings. Class teachers assess spellings as part of their wider assessment of writing.
Please bring in completed homework on a Monday morning to be marked together.
Useful Information
Below are two useful documents:
The Curriculum Overview provides information about what the children are learning in each subject each half-term.
The Year 4 Info Evening is the slides from our Introduction Evening and is full of some useful reminders about uniform, PE kit, routines and policy.
