What a fantastic start we’ve had in Year 5! It has been wonderful to welcome everyone back after the summer holidays, and we are already diving into our exciting new topic: Marvellous Mayans.

This week, Year 5 got creative with block printing to design striking Mayan temples for their topic book front covers. The results were really effective and gave Year 5 a great introduction to the art and culture of this fascinating civilisation.

Year 5 also began exploring their new class text, Oh Maya Gods! by Maz Evans. The children enjoyed discussing the cover and blurb, and sharing their predictions about what the story might be about. We can’t wait to uncover the adventures that lie ahead in the book!

It’s been a brilliant first week back – full of enthusiasm and curiosity. We’re looking forward to seeing what next week brings as we continue our journey into the world of the Mayas.
