Another fantastic in Year 2!
In Science, we have been exploring everyday materials and learning how to describe them using properties such as flexible, smooth, rough, waterproof and absorbent. The children loved investigating different objects and sorting them by what they were made from and their suitability for the purpose they were being used for, based on their properties.
In English, we continued our work using The Day the Crayons Quit. We practised writing a range of sentence types, including questions (“Why did Blue Crayon feel so tired?”), statements and commands.
In Maths, we have been consolidating our practical and pictorial methods for solving addition and subtraction problems. The children showed great confidence explaining their strategies and practising taught methods.
In History, we learnt more about Guy Fawkes, the Gunpowder Plot and life in the Jacobean era. We also explored the differences between Christian groups at the time, including Protestants.
A highlight of our week was a visit from Ellie at St Nicholas’ Church, who spoke to us about Christian traditions, beliefs and the Holy Trinity. The children were engaged and full of thoughtful questions throughout her visit.
