End of Macbeth unit - Emotion Graphs

We have been creating Macbeth emotion graphs in groups of three or four. Each group chose a character from Shakespeare’s play (Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, Banquo or Macduff) and tracked how their emotions changed throughout the story. Down the side of our paper, we listed the different emotions or behaviours shown by the character, and across the page we marked the key moments in the play from 1 to 5.

To make our graphs stand out, we used different colours of paper and added decorations like dripping blood or gravestones to represent the darker moments and the characters’ deaths. Underneath our main graph, we stuck another strip of coloured paper where we explained which parts of the story matched the emotions we plotted.

It was a creative and interesting way to explore how the characters develop and how their feelings change as the tragedy unfolds.

When we were doing our Macbeth topic, we created something called an emotion graph. We chose a character from the play and tracked the emotions they felt throughout the story. I chose Lady Macbeth, but you could choose Macbeth, Macduff, Banquo, Fleance or King Duncan. 💭

You look through the book and pick out the key moments that show how your character is feeling. For example, for Macbeth you might choose “guilty” because he killed King Duncan. We could work with up to four people in a group. It was really fun, especially because we could decorate our graphs to match the dark and dramatic theme of Macbeth.

Darwin's Discoveries Front Cover

This week we have been trying to finish our topic book covers for our topic this half term (Darwin's Discoveries). The design is a black-and-white picture of us with finches and flowers around it, all mounted on black card. My face was hard to cut out because I have glasses! It was very fun and quite easy (for me!!). Finches come in all different shapes and sizes.
