Coten End Primary School
WB 12.1.26
This week, in Maths, we have been learning all about money. The children have explored different forms of money, including coins and notes, and have practised recognising their values. We have been comparing different amounts of money and deciding which amounts are more or less. The children have enjoyed using real-life examples to help them understand how money is used every day.
In English, we have been learning about clauses and how sentences can be improved. The children practised combining two clauses using the coordinating conjunction and. This has helped them to write longer, more interesting sentences and explain their ideas more clearly.
In Art, we have begun comparing the work of Antony Gormley and Alberto Giacometti. The children looked closely at their sculptures and discussed the similarities and differences between them. They have also started learning how to sketch people and are beginning to create their own sculptures.
In PE, our new dance unit has started. The children have been learning how to move to music and exploring how speed and different styles of music can change the way we move our bodies.
In Science, we have been recapping our learning about habitats and microhabitats. We have also revised carnivores, herbivores and omnivores, and discussed how animals are adapted to eat the food available in their habitats. The children enjoyed sorting animals by their food sources and sharing their ideas.
Well done, Year 2, for your fantastic learning!
