WB 23.02.26

This week in Year Two, we have been very busy beginning to map out our exciting new COOL curriculum learning journey for our theme, Steam, Soot and Splendour. We shared our ideas about what we already know and what we would love to find out. There were so many thoughtful questions and ideas about how to showcase our learning! We are especially excited to start learning about the Victorians in our new history unit. We can’t wait to discover what schools were like in Victorian times and how daily life was different from today.

In Art, we have started exploring the beautiful work of Georgia O'Keeffe. We looked closely at how she used colour, shape and shading to make her flower paintings stand out. Inspired by her style, we created our own fantastic topic book covers. We carefully used colour blending and shading techniques to create bold and beautiful flower images. They look amazing!

In Science, we began planning our new unit on plants. We discussed how we might show our learning about life cycles, plant reproduction and what plants need to survive. We are excited to grow our knowledge and maybe even grow some plants of our own!

In Maths, we have been practising measuring carefully. We have been learning how to use a ruler accurately, comparing the lengths of different objects and applying our skills to solve word problems.

What a brilliant start to our new term of learning.
