Coten End Primary School

Week Beginning 13.4.26

We were happy to welcome the children back after a lovely Easter break. We are spending the next couple of weeks completing our Fossil Hunters topic.

In Maths we are continuing with our fraction learning and in English preparing to write information texts about dinosaurs.

The children have enjoyed cutting and stitching their leaves, practising the running stitch and fine motor skills when threading the needles! The results have been really successful and the children are proud of their work.

Most excitingly, all 3 classes will be heading to Cross Hands Quarry in the next two weeks to put their fossil knowledge to the test. On Thursday this week, it was the turn of 3SS. They had a wonderful day, learning all about how some of Warwickshire was once a shallow sea and then learning which fossils to look out for.  They then had a great time looking for fossils on the spoil heap of the quarry. They used their newly trained fossil hunting eyes and found a range of fossils, along with lots of quartz and limestone. It was a really great day!
