This week, Year 2 have had another exciting and busy week filled with fun, creativity and teamwork!

One of the highlights was our fantastic trip to Warwick Castle, as a memorable introduction to our next learning theme, Castle Quest. We were lucky to dodge the worst of the weather, with only some drizzle on our walk back! During the visit, the children took part in a range of exciting activities, including exploring Zog’s Playground, taking part in The Falconer’s Quest, and joining a Castle Life Tour to learn more about how people lived in medieval times. We also enjoyed watching the lively and entertaining Zog show. A particular highlight of the day was The Falconer’s Quest, when the sun even managed to shine and we were wowed by the spectacular display of birds – especially when they swooped down and flew right over our heads!

In DT, we have been working hard to perfect making wheels and axels for our egg-carrying vehicles. We showed great perseverance and teamwork while testing and improving our designs, applying our understanding of mechanisms and how wheels and axles work as part of our DT learning this term.

In English, we became detectives as we created wanted posters to help catch Mr Fox after a request from Farmer Bean. To make our descriptions as detailed as possible, we used expanded noun phrases, coordinating conjunctions and a range of suffixes to support our grammar and vocabulary learning. Our posters were incredibly creative and will hopefully help others identify the sneaky fox!

We also had a brilliant morning on Monday taking part in KS1 Sports Day. From cup stacking to sprinting, everyone joined in enthusiastically, developing their agility, balance and coordination whilst showing fantastic sportsmanship throughout the activities.

We have all worked extremely hard this half term and are definitely ready for a well-deserved rest. Well done, Year 2!
