Year 6 Tudor Houses

On the week of Thursday 26th of October, we made our wooden model of a Tudor house.

At the beginning of the day, we had to create a bottom structure for our models. Firstly, Year 6 had to use the wooden sticks and our own saw for each group to make a sturdy base and we used the precision of the hot glue gun to secure our bottom layer.

After break, we came back to our designs. This time we had to create our walls and use triangles to keep it strong and stable and, if we wanted, add our second layer. This was one of the trickiest bits and you needed to be cautious because if you got it wrong or misplaced something it would ruin the design. Therefore, we would have to retrace our steps. Some of Year 6 added a jetty to balance the structure and add the detail. Other models cleverly used doors for their house.

When we came back from our lunch, our super structures were ready for the remarkable roofs to be placed on our replicas. Now it was time for extra detail, including roof tiles (sandpaper) or paths towards the door and other parts. This was definitely the best part, as we could decorate and improve our building. Then we added some green card to go under the structure and wrote our names, and then we had to finish and get ready for home time.
