Coten End Primary School
Week Beginning 31st March
It's been another busy week here in Year 2!
This week in English we wrote our own extended narrative. We continued the story of Somebody Swallowed Stanley and thought about what could happen next now he is a kite! We wrote up our work in neat and we were very excited to use the handwriting pens and special booklets.
In Geography we continued our work thinking about the environment. We went on a litter pick in St Nick's Park - we were amazed at how much rubbish we found! We then sorted the rubbish into types of materials found and drew a bar chart to represent the data.
Our Science lessons have been thinking about the food chains of animals under the sea. It was quite tricky to remember the order and that an arrow means "...is eaten by" but we definitely rose to the challenge!
In Computing we have been using the application Scratch Jr. We looked at coding our characters to move realistically like a fly and thought about which blocks would mean we didn't need to use much code and could make the algorithm run on repeat.
Next week is the last week of this half term but we've got lots more packed in. We're looking forward to finishing off our topic book covers. This week we painted pieces of paper orange and red to look like an animal's fur - can you guess which famous book our next learning theme is based on?
