The children in Year 4 are very excited to be starting their new theme of Celts and Conquerors for the Summer Term. We have already begun by exploring the significance of mosaics in Roman art and culture. The children used inspiration from the colour combinations and patterns of Alma Thomas to create primary and secondary colour palettes for their own mosaics, working with tints and tones to lighten and darken their shades. You can see some of the finished artworks on the front covers of our new learning theme books.
In Maths, we have been looking at Shape. This has involved exploring a wide variety of 2D shapes, as well as their properties. This week we are starting to look at where we can find symmetry in shape and patterns, as well as in the world around us.
