Coten End Primary School
Week Beginning 12th May
In English, we put our suffix knowledge into action by writing Wanted posters for the mischievous Mr Fox! The children enjoyed describing him using words like fearless, quickly, kindness and careful – all building on the suffixes we explored last week. Their posters were full of character, creativity, and some rather convincing reasons why Mr Fox should be caught!
In Maths, we’ve moved on to position and direction. The children have been learning to use precise language to describe movement and turns, such as left, right, quarter turn and clockwise. They are becoming confident at following and giving instructions, and we’ve been impressed by their growing accuracy.
In Computing, we learned how to insert images into a Google Doc and how to resize them. The children loved choosing pictures to match their work and showed great independence in navigating the tools to move and adjust their images neatly.
We’ve continued caring for our ducklings and chicks, who are growing fast! The children have been observing them closely and used their careful noticing skills to sketch them in detail. It’s been a wonderful opportunity to link our science and art learning while practising care and patience.
Finally, we’ve begun preparing for Sports Day, which will take place after half term. The children have been practising races and team events with energy and enthusiasm—we can’t wait to see them in action!
Thank you for your continued support and encouragement. Have a lovely weekend!
