Coten End Primary School
Week Beginning 23.06.25
This week, Year 5 have continued to work hard across all areas of their learning.
This week marked the final flute rehearsal before the big performance. Everyone played beautifully and showed great focus.
In French, Year 5 have been busy creating colourful and informative leaflets all about Warwick to send to their French pen-pals. They used their writing skills to describe our lovely town in French, including fun facts, key landmarks, and some brilliant illustrations.
Year 5 showed incredible responsibility and kindness while looking after their Reception buddies during an afternoon play. They planned a range of fun activities – from chalk drawings and ball games to exciting parachute games – making sure everyone felt included and had a fantastic time.
This week’s Science lesson turned Year 5 into young archaeologists! They created their own ‘dig sites’ and carefully selected tools to help separate different materials and uncover hidden treasures. It was a great hands-on investigation, helping them learn all about materials and their properties.
In Geography, Year 5 explored the UK’s tallest mountains. After learning interesting facts and comparing their heights, the class created impressive 3D contour models showing the shape and elevation of the peaks.
To end the week, we enjoyed the wonderful Francophone Art Exhibition hosted by Coten End. Each year group, from Reception to Year 6, showcased stunning art inspired by French-speaking countries and artists. Year 5’s contributions were thoughtful and beautifully made – we were blown away by the talent on display across the school.
