Coten End Primary School

Week 2 (w/b: 8.9.25)

Last week, our Year 1 children had a fantastic time exploring the wide range of resources available to them across the Year 1 classrooms. It was wonderful to see their curiosity and creativity come to life as they immersed themselves in hands-on activities.

In the Design and Technology junk modelling area, the children experimented with different joining techniques such as tape, glue and split pins to bring their ideas to life. They showed great perseverance, learning to become more resilient when their first ideas didn’t go quite to plan. It’s been lovely to see their growing confidence as they tackle challenges.

Over in the fine motor skills area, the focus has been on strengthening those important hand muscles. Through activities like threading, using tweezers and moulding playdoh, the children are building the dexterity and control that will support them in all the wonderful writing they’ll be doing throughout the year.

We’re so proud of how the children are settling into their learning environment and embracing new routines with enthusiasm!
