Coten End Primary School

W/B 22.9.25

Year 2 have got off to a brilliant start to the year!

They have fully immersed themselves within this half-term's topic, 'Awesome Africa', and have enjoyed exploring the topic from forming sentences using texts, such as The Lion Inside, to creating shadow artwork based on the African Savannah.

We have been working hard to form grammatically correct sentences in English, and, so far, we have covered nouns, proper nouns and verbs. The children have created some beautiful writing, ready to learn how to add more detail as we go along.

In maths, we have been practising partitioning numbers, with a focus on identifying tens and ones within two-digit numbers. The children are becoming so much more confident working with numbers, and they have really impressed us.

In science, we have been learning about the different life processes required to be a living thing (MRS GREN) and, this week, we looked at animals that live in specific habitats. The children collaborated to create some amazing habitats, featuring some of the plants and animals that would be well adapted to live there.
