Week Beginning 29.09.25
What a week it has been in Year 5 – they have hardly stopped!
Year 5 had a very special visitor, Simon the explorer, who led a full-day Maya Explorer Workshop. Year 5 learned so much about the Maya civilisation. Simon showed us where they lived, what their homes were like, and the kinds of food they ate. They were fascinated to discover their diet, and which animals were part of their lives – some were dangerous, but others were cute! Simon brought history to life and made Year 5 feel like real explorers.
Year 5 continued their Maya art projects. First, they carefully painted their modroc pots, making sure the colours were bright and bold. Then, they completed their final Maya mask designs, ready for the big step – actually making them! Using modroc, Year 5 created their very own Maya masks.
It’s been such a busy and exciting week, full of new learning and creativity. We are really proud of everything they have achieved and can’t wait to show off their Maya masks soon!
