Coten End Primary School
Week 5 (w/b: 29.9.25)
This half term, the Year 1 children are on an exciting learning journey through Art and History. In each classroom, you'll find a display that maps out our curriculum journey which shows our learning objectives to the final celebration point. As we make our way along the path, we proudly showcase the children’s work and discoveries.
We're currently halfway through our journey, and the children are already brimming with curiosity and creativity! In History, we've been exploring changes over time, encouraging children to think about how life was different in the past. A great way to support this at home is by sharing stories from your own childhood. What was your favourite toy? How did you get to school? Maybe even involve grandparents. Their memories can spark some wonderful conversations and help children connect with the past in a meaningful way.
In Art, we’ve been developing our skills in brush strokes and colour mixing. If you’re feeling inspired, why not try some creative activities at home? Whether it’s painting with different types of brushes, exploring new media like pastels or watercolours, or simply mixing colours to see what you can create.
We can’t wait to see how the second half of our journey unfolds.
