Week 6 (w/b: 6.10.25)

This week in Year 1, we’ve been busy doing some brilliant learning! In Science over the past few weeks, we’ve been learning all about our bodies and the different ways we can look after them, from eating well to keeping clean. This week we explored the importance of handwashing and how it helps us stay healthy.

To see how handwashing really works, we carried out a fun experiment using a bowl of water and a sprinkle of pepper to represent germs. When we dipped our unwashed fingers in, nothing much happened. But after a good scrub with soap and water, we tried again and the “germs” magically moved away from our clean fingers!

The children were amazed by the results and loved seeing science in action. It was a simple but powerful demonstration that showed just how important it is to wash our hands regularly throughout the day.
