Coten End Primary School
Week Beginning 20th October
The highlight of our week this week was our Stone Age Theme Day! We had a go at weaving using some wool to create exciting patterns and we used clay to make our own stone age pots. We also used bars of soap to practise 'flint knapping' and even tried our hand at some archery. It was a fantastic day!
In Maths this week, we have moved onto mental subtraction methods and have been subtracting 1s and 10s crossing the boundaries of 10s and 100s.
In Science this week, we finished our topic about skeletons, muscles and nutrition by studying the food labels of a variety of different foods and comparing the amount of saturated fat that each item contained. We then worked in pairs to design a healthy menu, making sure to include somthing from each of the 5 main food groups.
In English we have now finished our unit on coordinating conjunctions and we all published our stone age stories in our new English Writing books.
We can't wait to start our new topic which is based on the book 'The Firework Maker's Daughter' after half term!
