Coten End Primary School
Week Beginning 24.11.25
In Geography, the children explored the impact of tourism linked to famous Harry Potter film locations across the UK. They discussed how increased visitors can bring positive opportunities for local communities, as well as some of the challenges that come with being a popular destination.
In English, we began our new narrative unit. The children have started planning and writing their very own exclusive chapter of Harry Potter, imagining what Harry’s experience at Grunnings might have been like. Their ideas have been wonderfully imaginative, and we can’t wait to see how their stories unfold.
Music lessons have been filled with beautiful sound as Year 5 continue to develop their flute-playing skills. The children are now confidently holding their flutes with good technique and producing clearer notes—excellent progress all round!
In DT, Year 5 have finalised their Harry Potter–themed banner designs. They carefully created templates using tracing paper and began pinning their cut-out felt pieces into place. Everything is now ready for the exciting sewing stage next week!
