This week in Year 1, the children have been deepening their understanding of geographical features. We explored a range of new terminology linked to physical features and the children were given various Play-Doh models to investigate. From tiny hills to winding rivers, their colourful creations set the perfect stage for some hands on geography.

Armed with labels, the children set to work identifying each feature correctly. They were absolutely brilliant at spotting the differences. We heard some wonderfully thoughtful conversations about how to tell one feature from another, and it was fantastic to see them using precise vocabulary with growing confidence.

It was a lovely reminder that learning can be both practical and imaginative.
