Coten End Primary School

Week Beginning 1st December

This week in Maths, we have been learning how to multiply and divide by 3 and 4 and answering a range of fluency, reasoning and problem-solving questions.

In English this week, we planned an advert for a jungle-themed restaurant and then used our plans to write the adverts using a range of subordinating conjunctions and persuasive devices such as rhetorical questions, interesting adjectives and alliteration. After writing them and editing our work, we published them.

In Science this week, we learnt about how to protect our eyes from the sun. We learnt about the harmful effects the sun's UV rays can have on our eyes and skin, and we designed sunglasses and sunhats to help protect us from the sun.

In Computing, we are continuing our Scratch unit. Last week, we learnt how to change our avatars and this week we learnt to program a story by adding blocks. We even had a go at adding speech and wait blocks to make two characters talk to each other, and used motion blocks to move characters during the animation.

In DT this week, we learnt how to cut paper to make box folds which we will be using to make our pop-up books. Some of them were tricky to master, and we had to use determination and collaboration to make them work.
