Art – Galápagos Islands Landscape Painting
In art this week, we have been creating landscape paintings inspired by the Galápagos Islands. We used acrylic paint and practised different techniques, such as mixing colours, layering paint and adding detail to create texture.
We focused on showing perspective in our paintings by making objects in the foreground larger and more detailed, and objects in the distance smaller and softer. This took a lot of patience and resilience, especially when waiting for layers of paint to dry or correcting small mistakes.
The final paintings are amazing, and we are really proud of how our hard work and perseverance paid off.
Ending the Term with a Quiz!
We ended the term with a fun and exciting quiz made up of 14 rounds, which helped us review everything we’ve learned this term as well as test our general knowledge. Some rounds focused on our learning in class, including maths, science, Macbeth, and the Galápagos Islands, while other rounds reflected our interests, such as sport, music, films, and current events.
Everyone got really involved, working together, thinking carefully, and showing great teamwork and enthusiasm. It was a brilliant way to finish the term and celebrate how much we’ve learned.
It really has been a fantastic term, and all of Year 6 should be very proud of themselves!
