SPRING 1 - Week 2 (wb: 12.1.26)

Year 1 have been incredibly busy this week, using their creativity to explore our topics in even more depth. Our classroom has been filled with some fantastic creations, including aliens and spaceships made from junk modelling, as well as intricate habitats carefully constructed from spare boxes found around the classroom. We are always so impressed by where the children choose to take their learning and we love seeing their ideas come to life. We’re really looking forward to many more imaginative creations over the coming weeks!

In our writing sessions, the children were set an exciting challenge: to be more independent with their writing than ever before. They were given a picture and told they could write anything they liked about it, as long as it was their best writing yet in Year 1. The results were wonderful. Some children chose to describe the picture in detail, others created imaginative stories, and some even invented brand new sea creatures that might live in the habitat shown. The Year 1 team were particularly impressed with how many children independently attempted to use Phase 5 phonics and remembered to include punctuation in their writing. Their growing confidence and pride in their work really shone through.

Well done, Year 1 — we are very proud of you!
