SPRING 1 - Week 3 (wb: 19.1.26)

This week, Year 1 have truly impressed us with their artwork! Using our C.O.O.L Curriculum as a guide, the children follow a learning journey that leads them towards a final goal and celebration of their learning. This half term, that journey has focused on the work of Eric Carle and the art of creating effective collages.

One of the wonderful aspects of the C.O.O.L Curriculum is the freedom it gives children to take their learning in directions that genuinely interest them. As a result, the work produced across classrooms has looked wonderfully different. The children have been choosing which areas to focus on and working closely with their teachers to create activities that showcase their skills, ideas, and creativity.

The children have noticed that Eric Carle uses textured and patterned paper in his collages, and this has led them to an exciting new challenge: creating their own paper to use in their artwork. There has been lots of experimentation, careful thinking, and creativity along the way, and we cannot wait to see the finished pieces come together.

If you have any art supplies or craft materials at home that you no longer need, we would be more than happy to put them to good use in our classrooms. Please do have a chat with your class teacher if you are able to help.

We’re so proud of the creativity and enthusiasm Year 1 have shown. Watch this space for some fantastic final artwork!
