Coten End Primary School
SPRING 2 - Week 1 (wb: 23.2.26)
This week, Year 1 had a very special visitor as part of Safer Internet Day. James, along with some special guests, led an engaging and interactive assembly all about staying safe online. The children learnt why it is important to protect themselves when using the internet and explored the types of information that are safe and not safe to share.
The session was full of discussion, questions, and thoughtful contributions from the children. They thoroughly enjoyed the interactive elements and demonstrated a growing understanding of how to make sensible choices online. We hope the key messages from the day will stay with them and help them navigate the digital world safely and confidently in the future.
Alongside this important learning, we were also excited to introduce our new theme for the half term: Japan! With a focus on Geography and Art, the children were given opportunities to explore different aspects of Japanese culture through their continuous provision. From recreating styles of Japanese art, to designing tranquil blossom gardens, and even having a go at using chopsticks, there has already been a wonderful sense of curiosity and creativity in the classroom. It has been lovely to see the children immersing themselves in new experiences and asking thoughtful questions about the world beyond their own. We are very much looking forward to seeing the direction the children choose to take their learning in this half term.
