This week has been full of excitement and discovery in Year 2. In English, we used Jack and the Beanstalk as our inspiration to write our own diary entries. We imagined we were Jack himself, climbing the enormous beanstalk and meeting the giant. We worked hard to include the subordinating conjunction 'if', thinking about what might happen if Jack made different choices on his adventure.
In Science, we have been carefully watching our cress grow. We talked about what plants need to survive, such as water, sunlight, and air. We also discussed what might happen if they don’t get what they need — some of our cress looked a little droopy, which helped us understand this even more!
In History, we continued comparing life in the Victorian times to life today. We explored how children lived, worked, and played in the past, and we noticed how different things are now. The children were fascinated by Victorian schools and were very glad that our classroom is a lot more comfortable.
It has been a wonderful week of learning, imagining, and investigating. We can’t wait to see what next week brings!
