Science Week – Curiosity and Investigation
What an amazing Science Week we had, full of curiosity and exciting investigations! We continued learning about how the heart works, focusing on how different types of exercise affect our heart rate. It was really interesting to see how our bodies respond to activity.
We also created comic strips and diary entries to showcase the journey of a red blood cell through the body. Some of us even got into role as veins or arteries, which made the learning even more engaging and memorable!
To finish the week, we proudly showcased our projects at a fantastic Science Fair on Wednesday, sharing our learning and discoveries with others.
English – Tales from the Caribbean
In English, we continued our work on Tales from the Caribbean. We listened to an oral retelling of an Ashanti tale called Too Choosy Choosy. The storytelling style helped us imagine the characters and setting vividly.
We then made predictions about how the characters might feel and what might happen next, before writing our own narratives based on our ideas. It was a great opportunity to be creative and build on the traditional storytelling style.
RE – Exploring the Easter Story
In RE this week, we visited Castle Hill Baptist Church to learn more about the Easter story in a very interactive way. When we arrived, we were presented with a “crime scene” and had to investigate what had happened.
We moved around different locations, including the meal, the trial, the tomb and the grave, gathering clues and thinking carefully about the events leading up to Jesus’ death. We got into character to explore different viewpoints and tried to work out who was responsible.
At the end, we took part in our own trial, where we discussed the evidence and shared our opinions. Most of us decided that Judas was guilty, but some people believed it was the judges’ fault instead.
It was a really engaging and different way to explore the Easter story, helping us to think more deeply about the events and their meaning.
