Coten End Primary School
Week Beginning 20.04.26
This week year 5 made a splash as swimming lessons officially began. For many, this marked the moment they confidently stepped into the water, supported by warmer temperatures and some welcome glimpses of sunshine.
Next, Year 5 had a particularly memorable visit from the fire brigade, who shared invaluable advice on fire safety. The session was both engaging and inspiring, with many pupils asking thoughtful questions about how they could one day become firefighters. It was fantastic to see such curiosity and ambition sparked by the experience.
Creativity has also been flourishing in Year 5 through their collaborative “Peace Tree” project. Pupils have been exploring a wide range of artistic techniques, including collage, oil pastels, mixed media, watercolour, splatter art, and painting. As the pieces come together, the final assembly is becoming a bold, colourful, and truly beautiful masterpiece that will take pride of place in the peace-making garden.
In PSHE/DT, children have been taking on a variety of team challenges. Through these activities, they have been learning the importance of collaboration, clear communication, defined roles, and giving precise instructions. It has been impressive to see how well they are working together and supporting one another.
