To start the week, the children showed fantastic resilience, determination and courage during our athletics morning. They challenged themselves across a range of activities, including sprints, long-distance running and javelin. It was wonderful to see everyone pushing themselves, supporting one another and demonstrating such positive attitudes towards sport.

In preparation for our upcoming Opera Day, we have been increasing our singing sessions. The children have been working hard to build their confidence with both the lyrics and the actions. It has been great to see their enthusiasm grow, and we are looking forward to seeing all their hard work come together.

In English, creativity has been flowing. The children have been designing imaginative inventions to help save our Earth. Ideas have included solar-powered hats that can charge your phone, machines that transform leftover food into new meals to reduce waste, and even hydro-powered robots designed to clean polluted water. Their innovation and thoughtful approach to real-world problems have been truly impressive.

Our PSHE lessons have focused on self-awareness and positivity. The children explored what makes them unique by thinking about their physical features, characteristics and personality traits. They first drew self-portraits and identified five positive things about themselves. Then, working with a partner, they created portraits of each other and shared five positive words. It was a lovely activity that really celebrated kindness, confidence and appreciation of one another.

Finally, we enjoyed the outdoors in our art lesson. We went on a nature walk around the school grounds, collecting fallen leaves, flowers and pine cones. Back in the classroom, we used these natural materials to experiment with printing techniques using paint, inspired by the artist Beatriz Milhazes. It has been wonderful to see how the children brought their creativity to life, each piece reflecting their own unique style and attention to detail.
