Week Beginning 11.05.26

This week in Year 5, in English, the children proudly published their reports about Janaina Torres, who was named the Best Female Chef in Latin America in 2023 and the Best Chef in the World in 2024. The children worked incredibly hard to research her achievements and present their writing neatly and clearly.

In Geography, Year 5 explored the different physical processes that affect the Earth, including droughts, heatwaves and floods. The children worked collaboratively to match key vocabulary and information together before presenting their findings creatively in informative posters. They showed excellent teamwork and discussion skills throughout the lesson.

During PSHE, Year 5 focused on how to live a balanced lifestyle. We discussed the importance of moderation in all aspects of life. From enjoying our favourite foods, to spending time outdoors, relaxing and getting enough sleep. The children shared thoughtful ideas about how to live well both physically and mentally.

In Art, the children continued learning about the work of Beatriz Milhazes. The children began creating their backgrounds using geometric quadrilateral shapes, including rectangles and squares, alongside lines and stripes. They then carefully painted their colourful backgrounds, inspired by Milhazes’ vibrant artistic style. We are looking forward to seeing the finished pieces develop next week.
