A Huge Well Done, Year 6!
Firstly, a huge well done to all of Year 6 for the tremendous effort you have put into this week’s SATs practice. We have been so impressed by your determination, focus and positive attitudes.
It has been fantastic to see you putting all of your test strategies into action: reading questions carefully, checking your answers, managing your time and showing resilience when faced with tricky challenges.
Your hard work is really paying off, and you should all be incredibly proud of yourselves. Keep believing in what you are capable of!
Earth Week – Making a Difference
This week, we have been celebrating Earth Week and thinking carefully about how we can protect our amazing planet. We began the week by appreciating the beauty of nature around us and created a collaborative leaf collage, showing how small individual contributions can come together to create something wonderful.
Throughout the week, we explored The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind and learnt about William Kamkwamba’s inspiring story. We thought about how creativity, determination and innovation can help solve real-world problems. Inspired by this, we even created our own windmills and explored how renewable energy can make a difference.
We also used our voices by writing letters to world leaders, sharing our thoughts about environmental issues and suggesting changes that could help protect the planet for future generations.
We were very lucky to welcome visitors throughout the week, including Young Climate Warriors, who helped us understand more about climate change and the actions we can take. We also heard from Sarah Mills from Let’s Go Zero, who taught us about how schools can work towards becoming more sustainable.
It has been a brilliant week full of curiosity, teamwork and creativity. Hopefully, we have all been inspired to continue making positive changes, no matter how small, to help look after our planet.
Science – Rocket Investigation at Warwick School
This week, we were lucky enough to visit Warwick School for an exciting science lesson all about rockets. We explored the different forces involved in launching a rocket and learnt how forces such as gravity, thrust and air resistance affect how rockets move.
After learning about the science behind rockets, we had the chance to put our knowledge into practice by designing and testing our own rockets. We investigated which rockets travelled the furthest and thought carefully about how the design could affect the distance travelled.
We discussed how scientists and engineers often test and improve their ideas many times before finding the most successful design. It was a brilliant opportunity to experiment, problem-solve and use our scientific thinking skills. Thank you to Warwick School for another fantastic experience!
