Coten End Primary School

WB 15/6/26

What an exciting week it has been in Year 2!

The children were thrilled to welcome the Warwick School students who joined our classes for our whole-school Culture Club Day, taking part in activities and sharing their own experiences. Some classes even had the incredible opportunity to join Zoom calls with schools in Austria, Thailand and Zimbabwe, giving pupils a real sense of global connection. Across the school, we explored a wonderful range of languages, including Greek/Cypriot, Japanese, French, Russian, Thai, Italian, Romanian, Spanish, Cantonese and Hindi. Our class fully embraced the language we were focusing on and created beautiful artwork inspired by the culture. These pieces will be proudly showcased to parents after school next Friday.

In art, the children have been perfecting their dragon eye topic book covers. They have shown impressive control of shape, shading and detail, and the results are truly striking.

In science, we have been learning about what animals need to survive, such as air, food and water. The children shared their understanding in a variety of creative ways, demonstrating clear and confident knowledge.

In DT, we have been exploring healthy eating. The children learnt about balanced diets and designed their own ideal lunchboxes, making sure to include foods from different food groups to create a nutritious and appealing meal.

In Geography, we have been learning about the parts of a castle, and we have created some fantastically detailed diagrams.

It has been a brilliant week of creativity, curiosity and cultural celebration.
