What an exciting week we have had! On Thursday, Year 1 had a visit from a real pirate! Captain Raggybeard sailed down the canal to spend the day with us. He told us the story of how he met a mermaid, sang sea shanties with us and even made us walk the plank! Captain Raggybeard also gifted us all with a piece of treasure - a mermaid's tear which we were allowed to take home. As part of the day, we also used our DT skills to make fantastic lighthouses. After joining a cardboard tube and cup together, the children made a cone to attach to the top and then painted it to reflect their design. Finishing touches of windows and ladders were added and the results were absolutely fantastic. We had a great day and looked amazing in our pirate costumes!
