Coten End Primary School

Week Begining 20/01/25

This week in Year 1, we started with an exciting session centred around the book Alan's Big, Scary Teeth. The children were thoroughly entertained and captivated by the story, which provided an excellent springboard for our discussions on adjectives. We challenged the children to describe different animals and to imagine how they would look with humorous false teeth! It was lovely to see their creativity shine through their descriptions.

In Art, we shifted our focus to colour theory, exploring the concepts of cool and warm colours. The children enjoyed experimenting with these hues in their own artworks, taking inspiration from the distinctive style of Aboriginal art. Their creativity in using these colours was truly impressive, revealing their understanding of the differences between them.

In Computing, we reintroduced our favourite Bee-bots! The children had an absolute blast navigating them through an array of mazes and maps, enhancing their problem-solving skills and teamwork in the process.

We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm and engagement shown by all our Year 1 pupils this week. Thank you for your continued support of your child's education.
