Coten End Primary School

Week Begining 03/02/25

This week, Year 1 had a wonderful time celebrating Australia Day on Monday. The children were immersed in a variety of engaging activities that allowed them to experience the vibrant culture of Australia firsthand.

One of the highlights of the day was the food tasting session. The children eagerly sampled traditional Australian treats, including fairy bread, Tim Tams, Vegemite, and Anzac biscuits. It was delightful to see their reactions as they explored new flavours and textures, with some enjoying the sweetness of the fairy bread while others bravely tackled the distinctive taste of Vegemite!

In addition to the culinary delights, the children were also thrilled to meet some fascinating animals. They had the unique opportunity to observe a tree frog, a corn snake, a bearded dragon, a cockroach, and even a tarantula. The excitement in the room was palpable as the children learned about these amazing creatures and their habitats.

Overall, it was a busy and enjoyable day filled with learning and laughter. Our Year 1 students left with not only a taste of Australia but also wonderful memories of their day of exploration. We look forward to more exciting events in the future!
