Coten End Primary School

WB 01/12/23

This week, Year 2 were very lucky to be joined by the author Naomi Joslyn, author of Molly McDrew and the Great Fire of London. All the children thoroughly enjoyed the assembly and the animated workshops that Naomi delivered, and some children were lucky enough to take home a signed copy of her book. The children are now very excited to continue learning about the Great Fire of London as part of our Flames and Fireworks topic this half-term.

We have been very busy in our classrooms as, over the course of the last two weeks, we have been practising songs for our Christmas performance. The children are really excited to showcase their performances to their parents really soon. We have also been learning about different 2D shapes and identifying the numbers of sides and vertices in maths this week and, next week, we are moving onto 3D shapes and numbers of faces, edges and vertices. As well as this, we have enjoyed testing and exploring the different properties of many materials in science and identifying their suitability to be used to make different objects.

Finally, Year 2 enjoyed showing off their Christmas jumpers at the Christmas Fair today. The PTA, Friends, created and hosted a wonderful event where the children got to play games and enjoy some Christmas crafts - what a week!
