Our learning this half term has been based around the Roald Dahl book ‘Fantastic Mr Fox’. We have enjoyed reading the story and are now interested in reading some of Roald Dahl’s other books.
For our front covers we looked at the artwork used in Eric Carle books. We were interested in how Carle created a variety of textures with paint. He then used collage to create characters such as the hungry caterpillar. We painted paper using water colours and then cut pieces up to create a picture of a chicken. We were really pleased with our final products!
In DT, we were challenged to produce an ‘Egg Carrying Vehicle’ by Mr Fantastic Fox himself. We researched the different parts of a car and evaluated some previous designs. We created a list of design criteria and need to ensure that an egg could be carried in it without getting broken! We have a very ‘egg-citing. day building our final designs using a variety of pieces of junk such as water bottles and cereal boxes. Each vehicle had a movable wheels and not many eggs were harmed in the making...
