We celebrated National World Book Day this week. We had the chance to create some poems based on our school value ‘Curiosity’. We enjoyed looking at the pictureless book, Zoom. We created a list of rhetorical questions about the text and used these to make a class poem. We enjoyed performing these in our Key Stage 1, ‘Poetry Slam’ in front of the other classes. These poems are now displayed around our school.
On the Thursday, we all came dressed up as our favourite character from a book. We thought about characters who represented some of school values – Curiosity, Courage, Collaboration, Kindness, Determination and Responsibility. It was also exciting to have different teachers visit our classrooms to read some of their own favourite stories.
