Year 2 have had a fantastic first week back at school.

This week marked the start of our first learning theme, 'Awesome Africa'. The children enjoyed locating Africa and all the different oceans and continents on a map of Earth, and they fully immersed themselves in some African dancing during PE. It was lovely to be able to start to use our new learning theme books with the beautiful, animal fur patterned front covers, which were made using oil pastels on Transition Day.

During English, the children have been recapping the definition of a noun and locating nouns within their own sentences. Within maths lessons, we reviewed the children's understanding of previous number work, where they showcased what they had learnt and retained from Year 1 and Reception. They explored working forwards and backwards when sequencing numbers and have really impressed us with their efforts and confidence.

We are so proud of how they have settled in so far, and we are so excited to enjoy the rest of the year together!
