Coten End Primary School
Week commencing 29.1.24
We have had assessment week in Year 4 this week.; the children have completed 3 Maths tests and a Reading test. They all worked extremely hard and really showcased how much progress they have made this year. In English, the children completed their own myths, based on Theseus and the Minotaur. The standard of writing was outstanding, and the children demonstrated a range of key skills, such as: punctuating speech correctly, using fronted adverbials and expanded noun phrases. In History, we have been learning about primary and secondary sources. Mrs Slatem provided some of her own sources from her holiday to Knossos, in Crete. The children were able to recognise the difference between primary and secondary as well as critically analyse how trustworthy some of the sources were. In Science, we concluded our investigation into the effect that different liquids had on egg shells. After a week of observations, we found that vinegar would have the most detrimental effect to your teeth as the enamel would be completely removed!
