Coten End Primary School

Week Beginning: 13.11.2023

Another incredible week of learning has taken place and we take time to reflect on all that we have discovered.

Engaging English

This week, in English, we have been exploring poetry and writing some of our own about the Earth using the past progressive (I was... + ed verb), present progressive (I am... + ing verb) and past progressive (I will be... + ing verb) tense. We then continued to build up our knowledge further by looking into alliteration and onomatopoeia, which will use our poems next week.

Marvellous Mathematics

In Mathematics, we have been looking into cube numbers and deepening our understanding by solving problems relating to them. We also spent time identifying square numbers and fractions using the CGP books to explore multiples and factors.

Spectacular Science

In Science this week, we have been looking at the difference between mass and weight. We discovered that mass is the amount of matter that an object is made of (kg) whereas weight is the amount of gravity acting on the object (Newtons). We discovered that an objects mass would never change but its weight can. We explored how - on different planets - our weight might be different to that which we know on Earth. We explored the concept of weight by using a newton meter to weigh different objects.

Magnificent MFL

In French, we have been linking our learning with Science about the Universe and Space with the French language to retrieve words and phrases (such as adjectives; colours and conjunctions) linked with the planets.

Noteworthy

This week, we were lucky enough to have some people visit from the Warwickshire Fire Service to talk to us about fire safety and how we can keep safe. We were each given a questionnaire to complete at home to explore whether we are prepared for an unfortunate event should it occur.
