Coten End Primary School

Week Beginning: 06.05.2024

This week was a little different to the usual ones due to the Bank Holiday. Despite having one less day in school, Year 5 were kept busy with a wide range of engaging learning opportunities as relayed - this week - by Eva and Miki.

Magnificent Mathematics

Within Mathematics, Year 5 have been focusing on geometry (specifically angles). In this time, the children have learnt to identify different types of angles; calculating angles on both a straight line and around a point. To do this, the children made use of some important points.

Engaging English

In English, the children been linking their learning in Science to English by exploring chronological reports based on life cycles of different animals. At the start of the week, the children completed a 'Cold Task' before learning about the life cycle of humans in more detail. Once learnt, the children have begun to apply their knowledge to write a chronological report using the Key Skills taught this academic year.

Scintillating Science

This week, the children studied the different stages of the human life cycle and what occurs during each of these periods.

Glorious Gudwara

On Thursday, the whole of Year 5 visited the Sikh Gurdwara in Leamington Spa. During this special visit, we were asked to cover our heads as a mark of respect and modesty. We learnt a lot about the different Gurus and their history. We found out about the different parts of the temple; the religious practices that take place as well as the efforts that the community put into supporting the less fortunate including feeding the homeless in the langer.
