Phonics

Please see attached PowerPoint presentation and video to support phonics teaching at home. It is important that when pronouncing the sounds they are as 'pure' as possible, see video, to ensure no additional syllables are added. For example 'nnnn' not 'ner'. We have now sent our Phonics folders home, please complete and return these to school every Friday. Feel free to speak to your child's class teacher if you have any further questions.

Reading Meeting PowerPoint 2022

Articulation of Phonemes

A useful video clip showing the correct 'pure' pronounciation of phonemes (units of sound).

Phase 2 & 3 Sound Pronunciation and Actions

We have recorded a short video for each phase 2 and phase 3 sounds we have learnt in phonics. Please use these to practise any sounds at home. The videos go through how to pronounce the sounds and practise reading words containing those sounds. As a follow up activity, children could have a go at writing words containing the practised sound. There are also flashcard video for phase 2 and 3. These can be used to practise sound recognition.
