Phonics
Welcome to the section of the Year 1 Website dedicated to Phonics. This area has been created to support your child's reading. We have created a video for each individual sound. Each video starts with introducing the sound and then the children will have the opportunity to read some real words and 'alien' words.
The videos have been organised into 'Phase 3' and 'Phase 5' sounds. There are no new sounds in Phase 4 as this phase just involves words with blends such as 'cr' and 'st'.

Below are two short videos to support with the pronunciation of all Phase 3 and Phase 5 sounds. Please ensure your child is pronouncing their sounds correctly and not becoming "lazy" as explained in the video.
We have also included the actions we use which link to the Phase 3 sounds. Occasionally, a prompt by just using the action can help children recall the sound when reading or writing.
